On Saturday 16 August 2025, Kabuki Club staged its first Kabuki Salon at the Garden Cinema in London — a multi-disciplinary performance event built around Kon Ichikawa’s legendary 1963 film An Actor’s Revenge.

The evening opened with a live Tsugaru shamisen prelude by Hibiki Ichikawa, followed by a bespoke poetic introduction written and performed by Suleiman Suleiman, setting the tone for the screening. After the film, guests gathered in the Garden Cinema’s Atrium Bar for a sake reception accompanied by ambient Japanese music, creating a space for conversation and reflection.

The Kabuki Salon format is designed to frame cinema with live performance, ritual, and atmosphere — transforming a film screening into a cultural encounter.
